Award Recognizes Mentorship, Guidance and Investment in the Success of Others
Mashantucket, CT, October 2, 2026 – Command Holdings, a Pequot Company, announced today that Fatima Abbas will receive the North Star Award at BizConn Alliance 2026, recognizing her longstanding commitment to mentorship, advocacy and helping entrepreneurs and professionals navigate the path toward growth and success.
The North Star Award recognizes an individual whose mentorship has guided entrepreneurs and professionals toward growth, resilience and success. Inspired by the North Star, long relied upon by Native peoples as a constant point of direction, the award honors those who illuminate the path for others through wisdom, encouragement and steadfast support. The award recognizes leadership by individual achievement and by the success of the people the leader inspires, nurtures and empowers.
Throughout her career, Abbas has advocated for greater representation of Tribal voices and worked to create pathways for Native communities and leaders. Her work has included connecting people to opportunities, sharing knowledge and using her experience and relationships to help others navigate complex institutions and build their own paths to success.
Abbas’ approach to leadership reflects the principle at the heart of the North Star Award: that mentorship is an investment in the future. By helping emerging leaders understand how to navigate spaces that can often feel inaccessible, she has helped create opportunities that extend well beyond any single individual.
“Fatima represents exactly what the North Star Award was created to recognize,” said Jon Panamaroff, CEO of Command Holdings. “She has spent her career helping others find their way, sharing knowledge and making sure people have the support they need to move forward. Her impact is measured by what she has accomplished and by the people she has helped along the way.”
The North Star Award also reflects the broader mission of BizConn Alliance, which brings together leaders from government, industry and the business community to create connections and share opportunities.
Abbas will receive the North Star Award during the BizConn Alliance 2026 Awards Luncheon on October 6, 2026 at the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Reservation in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
The 2026 conference features a distinguished lineup of government and business leaders, including U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation Chairman Rodney Butler, SBA representative John Klein, GSA Tribal Liaison Julie Ramey, and other leaders.
